Chieshou pine

語音導覽

The 150-year-old Chieshou pine stands steadily to guard people and witness all the changes in the farm. By virtue of the structure of the tree that resembles the Chinese character “Shou”, it was named “Chieshou” pine, which was then written on a plaque by Mr. Yu, You Ren and then set down in front of the tree. Past President Chiang and his wife once had photos taken here as a momento, which has been placed on the plaque to serve as a memorial of him. Rumor has it that the Chieshou pine was split by a lightning strike at that time when past President Chiang passed away. Now, when looking up and gazing at this old pine again, the scars are gone and we can appreciate the exuberant vitality of Mother Nature.

Taiwan-Thailand Agricultural Exchange Memorial Park at Fushoushan Farm (Guan Xue Pavilion)

語音導覽

In order to comply with government policies, Mr. Song, Qing-Yun the then-current farm chief went to Thailand in 1970 to undertake primary field surveys. He also wrote survey reports and proposals. Thailand’s King Bhumibol adopted his advice, and then created an agricultural development program for the mountain areas in Northern Thailand. The King also assigned H. S. H Prince Bhisate Rajani to serve as the head of this program. Since 1973, by following the policies, the farm helped Thailand execute the “Thailand Royal Project” with the assistance from our country. In addition, excellent technicians were dispatched to reside in Northern Thailand to provide guidance on techniques. The mountain areas in Northern Thailand used to be barren land and overgrown weeds; and few people would come to such areas. However, after our diligent efforts for more than 40 years, the agricultural development is flourishing. The farm has made significant contribution to the mountain areas in Northern Thailand by improving the local people’s lives, purging the hazards of tobacco toxicity and protecting forest resources. All of these deeds were highly-praised by Thai Royal Family and all walks of life in Thailand. This also contributed significantly to the promotion of substantial diplomatic relations, agricultural technical cooperation, and seed exchanges between Taiwan and Thailand, as well as the maintenance of the close friendship between our country and Thai Royal Family.
Guan Xue Pavilion was named by its location in front of Mt. Snow (Xue). You can enjoy different types of flowers in the sunken flower bed in front of the pavilion. The bronze statue in front of the pavilion was set to memorize Mr. Zhao, Ju-yu, the third minister of the Veterans Affairs Council. In addition to the commemoration of Mr. Zhao for his care during the initial establishment of the farm, we also appreciate his initiative in promoting the construction of the “Lishan Guest House”, leading to the stimulation of tourism development nearby. The pavilion is not only a place to reminisce history, but also a good location to cherish the beautiful view of peach blossoms. Fushou Villa

語音導覽

Fushou Villa is about 3 minutes away from the Tourist Information Center. The villa is well preserved though it once housed past President Chiang Kai-shek; however, it is often overlooked due to its concealed position. The lion and tiger stone sculptures serve to alert tourists nowadays. The old trees stand at both sides of the road along the way to the villa. After entering, the timber gate with the antique door lamps were all designed at that time. Behind the house is a large garden, not only providing a play area for children, but was the President’s private outdoor space.
The Ford motor vehicle parked at the left of the entrance was once the private car of past President Chiang for his farm inspection tours and shuttling between the dwelling place and Lishan Guest House to pick up relatives and friends. For safety, only the driving seat was preserved at the front. There is a roundabout for car returning, which also acts as a privacy screen. Even at the Tianchi Pond and Camping Area, the highest spot of the farm, it is impossible to see the site. The roundabout comprises plum, pine, maple and camellias, which are rare species and their beauty rivals those in Songlu Villa. The garden behind the house affords a grand and extensive view of the splendid Mt. Snow, especially when the sunset reddens the mountain. As sunlight floods through the lodge, blue sky and white clouds, you can further experience the past elegance of the first family.

Tea Manufacturing at Fushoushan Farm

語音導覽

The process of making “Fushou Evergreen Tea”, the most popular specialty tea of the farm, is all handled ourselves, including preparation, packing and marketing. Leaf picking and preparation are only carried out from May to June and mid-September to mid-October every year. The brand new factory was completed in 2011. In addition to the updating of the production equipment, the quality and production capacity have been improved as well. Currently, both vacuum packaging and tinplate cans are used. The cans are marked with the image of the Daguan Pavilion on the body and the Chinese character “rong”, which represents the Veterans Affairs Council on the top of the lid. In addition, the farm emblem and the trademark registration of Fushou Evergreen Tea are also marked on the cans. For quality product tracking purposes, the cans are also marked with the manufactured date and the packaging is simple and attractive. To satisfy market demand, specially selected semi-fermented tea was launch as a new brand in 2012 and has won wide praise.
We will keep pursuing continuous improvement in the management of production to reach perfection in the tea industry, and developing organic farming and healthy cultivation to improve the quality of the tea. We greatly appreciate the long-term support from the customers of “Fushou Evergreen Tea” and seek to intensify and create new heights toward excellence.
Furthermore, in September, you may have the opportunity to cherish the plentiful cosmos of the apple tree garden, Cryptomeria fortunei and magnificent Mt. Snow in the background, which attracts photography enthusiasts every year.

Tea Garden

語音導覽

The Tea Garden is located at an altitude of 2,300-2,500 meters, where it reaches a critical point for the growth conditions of tea plants. However, thanks to the virgin land, fertile soil, lack of pollution, bright sunshine, intensive ultraviolet radiation and moist leaves, it contains rich nutrients and trace elements. Moreover, the cold weather, growth retardation and organic cultivation results in the accumulation of an abundance of various nutrients, vitamins and amino acids in the plants.
To prevent frost damage, anti-frost fans were set up on site to match the high mountain tea garden environment. When it reaches six degrees below freezing, the anti-frost fan sensors immediately starts the fans. The principle is that the warm air is guided downwards by the fan from 6-10 meters high, inducing air flow and destroying the radiation cooling effect, thus increasing the temperature around the tea plants, and effectively preventing the formation of frost damage.

Lan Yin Lake

語音導覽

There is a trail leading to Lan Yi Lake next to the camping area parking lots. The height of the grass (Miscanthus) reaches or even exceeds the height of a person at both sides along the trail. Lan Yin Lake will come into sight soon along the path. Lan Yin belongs to the alpine lakes and the water that comes from the rain is subsequently conserved because of its huge stone base underground. The pine and Miscanthus forest surrounds the lake such that the mountain breeze never reaches the lake, resulting in a natural water mirror and reflects the blue sky on fair weather days, thus the origin of its name.
You can observe a variety of creatures in the natural forest around the lake. It takes approximate 40 minutes to complete the trail and the sight of the mirror water can be seen every spring and summer.

There are two places, which are located outside and inside the entrance, respectively, for sentries to stand guard. A wooden house beside the assigned station is a dorm for the guards, which overlooks the mountains and camping area. Stepping farther on is the old building-Daguan Pavilion. Peach Garden

語音導覽

Walking down to the Fei Xue Pavilion is the farm’s peach garden, which is open to visitors every March when the peach trees are in blossoms. Strolling in the peach garden brings happiness to you like a spring breeze.
The main season for peach is from July to August. We insist on harvesting fully ripe peaches, which is when they are at their perfect state and possess a strong aroma, high sweetness and sufficient moisture despite being more difficult to preserve them for a long time. Therefore, supply tends to fall short of demand. During the production season, it is sold at the farm shop.
