Bulbul

Audio tour

Arvydas Ališanka (立陶宛)

Artist|Arvydas Ališanka (Lithuania)

Location|Coastal Forest

Materials|wood, nails, metal rod

Statement|
As birds build their nests, there is a reversal of roles. Man, like a bird, constructs a bird-shaped “nest” for himself.
Large scale bird created by the sculptor’s and the local people's hands turn into an artifact.
You can enter the sculpture and become part of it, be protected. My shelter is humanistic- it is not for birds, but for humans, they should be protected too as their green minds and thinking about raising environment awareness.

Ieke Trinks

Artist|Ieke Trinks (Netherlands)

Location|Birdwatching Cabin No.1

Materials|paper questionnaire, vine, branches, bamboo, hemp rope

Statement|
Ieke Trinks creates subtle, process-based performances in response to place, time, and public presence. At Guandu Nature Park, she reflects on modern lifestyles with high energy consumption—her own included. As part of her project, she identified several locations in the park and named them Energy Conservation Spots. At each spot, visitors are invited to follow a small instruction and take simple actions. Through these encounters, Trinks encourages reflection on how we live, consume, and connect with the natural world. You are invited to seek out the spots and take a moment to pause, observe, and engage.

Breath

Audio tour

Bonggi Park (韓國)

Artist|Bonggi Park (Republic of Korea)

Location|Grass Hill in back of the Nature Center

Materials|bamboo, thin wire, hemp rope

Statement|
This work begins with the belief that nature is the solution.
In the face of ecological imbalance and spiritual disconnection, we must return to the wisdom embedded in the natural world.
Using bamboo—a material both resilient and flexible—Breath embodies the ideas of harmony, life circulation, and organic balance. The dome-like structure mimics the rhythmic pattern of breathing, offering a space that is both protective and permeable.
As visitors step inside, they enter a meditative chamber where light and air flow freely.
The experience encourages a reconnection with the self through nature, inviting stillness and reflection.
Breath is not merely a sculpture, but a living structure—a symbolic organism that breathes with the world. It visualizes the continuous, cyclical relationship between human, nature, and space, offering a poetic response to our environmental and existential challenges.

Aerial Habitat

Audio tour

Artists|Corporate participation: Wistron Foundation/ Wistron Corporation X Kuei-Chih Lee (Taiwan)

Location|Coastal Forest

Materials|bamboo, rattan, rebars

Statement|
Led by environmental artist Kuei-Chih Lee, 52 Wistron volunteers collaborated to create " Aerial Habitat",a massive environmental art piece standing 6 meters tall.
The artwork was inspired by the symbiotic relationship between banyan trees and wetlands at Guandu Nature Park, where the banyan's aerial roots help it take root in the wetlands while also supporting a diverse cycle of life.
The title "Aerial" represents a flexible, adaptable state of being, while "Habitat" signifies the subtle, interconnected relationships among all living things. The artwork's three interwoven aerial root structures create a space for people to slow down, relax, and connect with their surroundings. It invites visitors to metaphorically enter the heart of the banyan, starting from its roots, to engage in a dialogue with nature and rediscover their relationship with the land.

Flow Together – Looking back of the 20th Anniversary of Guandu International Nature Art Festival

Audio tour

Artists|Bo-Sen Liao, Li-Qi Zheng (Taiwan)

Location|Interpretation Station

Materials|wooden borad, bamboo, files, books, nature materials

Statement|
Retrospective exhibition is a synchronic and diachronic event.
It also is a place where time and space converge.
This artwork uses the environmental characteristics of Guandu—the rivers (Tamsui River and Keelung River, or the two small creeks that flow through the park)—as a symbol.
“No man ever steps in the same river twice,” said the Greek philosopher Heraclitus.
When we look back on the past, it is like watching a river from the shore—it is not static. The relationship between nature and humans is the same.
At the intersection of nature and art, there is the beginning of new directions, understanding, and exploration.
